Washington, DC -- Come participate in Washington's answer to The Antiques Road Show! Distinguished dealers will be on hand at the Washington Winter Show Saturday morning, January 7, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Katzen Arts Center at American University to offer verbal appraisals and insights to the background of your antique treasures. The cost is $10 per item and no reservations are required.

The 2012 Washington Winter Show features antiques and fine arts from 44 distinguished dealers and runs January 5-8 at the Katzen Arts Center at American University in Washington, DC. The Show theme is Celebrating the White House. PNC Financial Services is the Presenting Sponsor.

Dealers will lend their expertise to give the approximate value and history of your objects. This is not a formal appraisal, but you may be able to learn how to care for your treasure, its origin, and an approximate value in today's market. Bring your antique treasures of silver, wood, ceramics or porcelain, painting, textiles, antique prints or maps, and dealers will be able to help identify its history. If items are large or unwieldy, please bring photos instead.

The Saturday Appraisals event is followed later with a lecture at 2:00 p.m. by former White House pastry chef, Roland Mesnier, who will share his culinary creations from being at the White House for over 25 years. After the lecture you can enjoy touring the Show and finding the items you cannot live without among the wonderful treasures on display by our forty-four premier dealers.

Other Show events include the Designers' and Sponsors' VIP and Preview Night Receptions on Thursday evening, January 5; a Lecture/Buffet Luncheon with Nancy Clarke, former White House floral designer, on Friday, January 6; and a Jazz Night on Saturday, January 7 featuring the smooth sounds from the Levine School of Music Faculty Jazz Band.

Come enjoy the entire weekend at The Washington Winter Show! Free covered parking for the Show and all events!

The Show benefits five local charities focused on children and families: The Bishop John T. Walker School for Boys; Starlight Children's Foundation; THEARC; Fight for Children and the St. John's Community Services. The Presenting Sponsor for the Show is PNC Bank.
